Sugar beet OCEAN

German Breeding for High Yields

The sugar beet "Ocean" from the German originator Strube is a classic example of a productive hybrid of the yield type (E). In the seed market, this hybrid has built a reputation as a reliable solution for farmers focused on maximizing the output of commercial mass per hectare.

Key Characteristics and Agronomy

Strube's development relies on decades of breeding trials under European farming conditions. "Ocean" demonstrates balanced development of vegetative mass and root growth, allowing for efficient use of soil potential throughout the entire season. The hybrid's main advantage is its genetic resistance to Cercospora, one of the most dangerous leaf diseases in sugar beets, which can significantly reduce yields without proper control.

Why Choose "Ocean"?

• Yield Type (E): The hybrid is highly adapted for accumulating biomass, which is a decisive factor in regions with favorable moisture conditions.
• Technological Efficiency: High disease resistance helps optimize the fungicide application schedule, reducing overall costs per hectare.
• Strube Stability: The company’s breeding program is known for high-quality emergence and crop uniformity, which facilitates subsequent field maintenance.

The use of "Ocean" is most justified in operations where the primary goal is total yield under intensive cultivation practices. This hybrid requires comprehensive nutrient management and timely protection, rewarding the farmer with consistently high sugar beet mass yields.
