The MS 861 sugar beet is a high-yield variety developed in Russia and widely used in agriculture. This hybrid is characterized by high yields, reaching 45–65 tons per hectare during variety trials, and a high sugar content in the roots — from 16.5 to 19%. Thanks to these indicators, MS 861 is a promising option for sugar production and in demand among agricultural producers.
The MS 861 hybrid is characterized by resistance to a number of diseases, including root aphid, root rot, cercospora, powdery mildew, and bunker rot of the root crop, which significantly facilitates its cultivation and reduces crop losses. The root has a cylindro-conical shape, is large and fully buried in the soil, which contributes to its quality development. The root system is taproot, penetrates to a depth of up to 2–2.5 meters and branches in width up to 1–1.2 meters, ensuring good plant nutrition.
MS 861 adapts well to various climatic conditions and soils, which allows it to be grown in the Polesie, Forest-Steppe, and Steppe zones. The plant forms a rosette of semi-lying leaves with 50–60 leaflets on one plant, which contributes to effective photosynthesis and development. With proper care and adherence to agronomic requirements, this variety provides a stable and quality yield, which makes it a profitable choice for farmers and agricultural enterprises.
