KV-Vinnytsia — a two-year root crop from the family of beets, intended for growing sugar beet. It is a cold-resistant and sun-loving plant, propagated by seeds. The crop is moderately demanding on soil fertility and, with proper care, can yield high yields even on moderately saline soils. For optimal growth, KV-Vinnytsia prefers the use of semi-rotted manure, as fresh manure reduces the quality of the roots. Soil moisture plays an important role: water requirements increase as plants grow, yet excessive moisture before harvest may cause root damage and reduce sugar content.
Sugar beet KV-Vinnytsia is characterized by good storability and transportability, facilitating its storage and transportation. High cultivation efficiency is achieved through winter sowing, which allows for an earlier and more abundant harvest. Sugar beet is an important sugar-producing crop in the temperate zone, containing 18–20% sugar in modern varieties, making it a valuable raw material for the food industry.
Moreover, KV-Vinnytsia is also used as a forage crop. In 100 kg of roots, there are approximately 25 feeding units and 1.2 kg of digestible protein, while the tops provide an additional 20 feeding units and 2.2 kg of digestible protein. This makes sugar beet a versatile crop, valuable both for sugar production and animal husbandry.
