Sudan Grass 'In Memory of A.N. Biktimirov'

Sudan Grass 'In Memory of A.N. Biktimirov' is a highly effective annual forage crop that received a patent from the Federal State Unitary Enterprise 'State Sort Commission'. The variety was bred by the Selective-Seed Center for Forage Crops of Ufa Federal Research Center (Ufa State University of Oil and Technology - Ufa IC RAS) and participates in the federal project for the development of scientific research. Thanks to its characteristics, it provides some of the highest yield indicators for hay and green mass among annual grass crops, making it a particularly valuable resource for agriculture in the steppe zone of Russia.

The crop features erect stems 2-3 meters high and a well-developed leafy structure. Due to this morphology, it achieves high biomass and a significant protein content in shoots - an indicator higher than most other forage grass crops, although it lags behind legumes. This makes Sudan Grass 'In Memory of A.N. Biktimirov' an ideal source of a complete ration for cattle and horses.

Breeding work at the Chishmy Selective Center for Plant Breeding of Ufa Federal Research Center (Ufa IC RAS) ensures stable production of high-quality seeds. Here, about 300 tons of seeds are produced annually, and the sowing areas of our selection varieties cover over one million hectares throughout Russia. Seeds of hybrids 'In Memory of A.N. Biktimirov' undergo strict germination and quality testing before dispatch to other regions, ensuring high productivity and reliability of sowing areas.
