Spinach Bilby

Stable spinach yields: why professionals choose Bilby

In the industrial spinach sector, the primary challenge for agronomists remains not just yield, but the phytosanitary safety of the crops. The Bilby hybrid from the Dutch breeding company Rijk Zwaan represents a high-tech solution for those looking to minimize risks associated with fungal diseases.

Protection as a core advantage

The main value of this hybrid lies in its complex genetic resistance. Downy mildew is a major threat to many leafy crops, capable of destroying marketability in a matter of days. Bilby was developed with a focus on high resistance to key races of this disease. This allows farmers to significantly reduce expenditure on fungicide treatments, making the crop attractive for both conventional and organic farming.

Technological characteristics

Visually, the variety stands out for its deep green leaf color, which persists even during transport and short-term storage, a critical factor for retail chains. The leaf blade possesses an optimal texture, resistant to mechanical damage during automated harvesting.

• Adaptability: The hybrid shows consistent results when grown in various climatic conditions, typical for professional greenhouses and open fields.
• Marketability: The intense green shade ensures high appeal for the end consumer on supermarket shelves.
• Economic efficiency: Reduced reliance on chemical protection directly impacts the cost of production per unit.

Bilby is a tool for those building a systematic agricultural business who are not willing to sacrifice quality for questionable savings on seed material. By choosing Rijk Zwaan, you are investing in the predictability of your results.
