Spinach PV-1026

Stable spinach yields: Why professionals choose PV-1026

In the vegetable sector, where pathogen resistance is a critical factor for profitability, the Dutch breeding company Pop Vriend Seeds-NL offers a solution that addresses the issue of downy mildew. The PV-1026 hybrid is the result of work by breeder Johan Rijk, aimed at creating a crop with predictable results even in high-risk infection environments.

Key Advantage: Peronospora Resistance

The main feature of PV-1026 is its genetic resistance to downy mildew (Peronospora farinosa). While other varieties may require intensive fungicide applications, PV-1026 demonstrates robust resistance. This not only saves on crop protection costs but also ensures the production of "clean" crops, which is highly valued by supermarkets and food processing companies.

Agronomic Profile

• Color: A deep, dark green leaf shade that maintains its intensity even during transport, enhancing marketability and appeal for the end consumer.
• Application: Ideal for professional farms focused on the fresh market and the "baby leaf" segment.
• Genetic Heritage: Developed by KWS Vegetables under the Pop Vriend Seeds-NL banner, ensuring compliance with strict European quality standards.

It is worth noting that PV-1026 requires strict adherence to irrigation protocols. Despite its high immunity to fungal diseases, like any high-yielding spinach hybrid, it is sensitive to waterlogging in the root zone. With proper irrigation management, this variety provides high uniformity, which is critical for mechanized harvesting. For farmers seeking a balance between color, disease resistance, and stable development, PV-1026 serves as a reliable tool for risk mitigation throughout the growing cycle.
