Eggplant Premier

Reliable Yield for Diverse Conditions

The 'Premer' eggplant, developed by the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing of the NAAS, is a practical tool for farmers focused on consistent performance. Designed for both greenhouse cultivation and open-field production, this variety offers a reliable growth cycle of 100–110 days, allowing producers to effectively schedule their market supply.

Agronomic Advantages in Practice

The primary appeal of 'Premer' lies in its uniformity. The oval-shaped, dark purple fruits typically weigh between 200 and 300 grams, meeting the quality standards required by modern retail and wholesale buyers. The plant habit is compact, which simplifies essential field operations such as weeding, scouting, and harvesting.

• Greenhouse application: The compact structure allows for higher plant density, maximizing yield per square meter. It is an excellent choice for early-season cycles.
• Open-field production: The variety shows good adaptation to fluctuating weather conditions. Its mid-ripening maturity ensures crops are ready for harvest before the peak summer heat, depending on planting times.

For farm management, 'Premer' represents an efficient choice because the fruit uniformity minimizes the time spent on post-harvest sorting and grading. Furthermore, the firm flesh ensures excellent shelf life and transportability, making it a competitive product for both local markets and long-distance distribution chains.
