Sorghum-sudangrass hybrids GORDEY® are grain agricultural crops intended for cultivation in the agricultural sector. These hybrids are primarily used as a feed base for livestock, providing high-quality nutrition thanks to their raw protein content and high yield of green mass. Sorghum-sudangrass hybrids are in demand for feed production, making them an important element in animal husbandry.
Research conducted in the Rostov region from 2020 to 2022 showed a significant heterosis effect in GORDEY hybrids, which is manifested in increased yield of green mass and dry matter, as well as increased raw protein content. In particular, the hybrid APV-1115 x Kudesnitsa – Gordey demonstrated high yield and quality of feed mass, exceeding standards by 1.2–2.3% in protein content. These results confirm the high adaptability and productivity of the hybrid under conditions of ordinary carbonate chernozem with varying levels of moisture.
The GORDEY hybrid has undergone approval and been included in breeding programs aimed at improving the varietal characteristics of grain sorghum and sudangrass. Currently, it is in the stage of state variety testing, which indicates its promising nature and readiness for widespread implementation in agricultural production. Thanks to its high agronomic indicators and resistance to climatic conditions, the GORDEY hybrid is an effective solution for increasing the feed base and productivity of livestock farms.
