Grain sorghum ATAMAN® is a high-yielding, early-maturing variety developed by selecting white-grained forms from the hybrid combination A-006 x Zerogradskoe 204. The plant is of medium height with a symmetrical, medium-length and density spike, and a long spike neck. The grain is yellowish-white, oval from the back and elliptical in profile, with a semi-glassy endosperm. The mass of 1000 grains is 25.0-26.0 g, ensuring a good grain yield of about 71.3%. The variety is characterized by early emergence and medium anthocyanin seedling color. ATAMAN® is adapted to various climatic conditions and has good disease resistance, in particular, it is weakly affected by bacterial blight and bacterial leaf spot. This makes it a reliable choice for growing in various regions, including the Lower Volga, where the average yield is about 14.9 c/ha, and the maximum yield reached 52.3 c/ha. The variety is suitable for both feed and food use, thanks to its high starch content (74.1-78.7%), protein (from 9.1% to 12.5%), and fat (3.6-4.1%). Due to its characteristics, sorghum ATAMAN® is widely used in agriculture for the production of grain feeds, ensuring high energy value of feeds. Its grain is distinguished by excellent culinary evaluation, which expands the possibilities of using the variety not only for feed but also for food purposes. High resistance to diseases and adaptability to the climate make this variety a profitable and reliable choice for farmers.
