Sorghum variety Rubezh is a medium-early hybrid of sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) intended for grain and fodder cultivation. Plants of this variety are distinguished by medium or high growth forms with heights ranging from 151 to 210 cm, possess resistance to lodging and fusarium head blight, ensuring harvest stability. Leaves are green with matte veins, non-hairy, while the panicle is symmetrical, erect, and of medium length, with spikelets of ear-like shape and chestnut-colored glumes at maturity. Grain is elliptical, brown in color, with a 1000-grain mass ranging from 21.8 to 28.0 g. The Rubezh variety is characterized by high crude protein content—about 7.94%, making it valuable for fodder use. Grain yield averages 78.8 ц/га, with maximum indicators reaching up to 117.4 ц/га. In some regions, the average dry matter yield is 111.8 ц/га, exceeding the standard by 12.5 ц/га. The variety is recommended for cultivation in various regions of Russia, including the Lower Volga and North Caucasus regions, as well as in the Saratov, Volgograd, Astrakhan, Kurgan, Orenburg, and Chelyabinsk regions, as well as in the Kalmykia and Bashkortostan republics. Sorghum, as a heat-loving, drought-resistant, and salt-tolerant plant, allows for successful cultivation in various climatic conditions. In addition to grain and fodder, sorghum is used for the production of grits, flour, starch, alcohol, silage, and biofuel. High content of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants in sorghum increases its nutritional value. The Rubezh variety combines these qualities, ensuring effective and universal application in agriculture.
