PORUMBEN 3

PORUMBEN 3 is an early-maturing simple sorghum hybrid with high production potential, developed by the Institute of Plant Breeding. It is intended for grain and silage cultivation, making it a versatile fodder plant for animals. The vegetative period is 90-95 days, allowing for harvest in a short period, especially in southern regions. Plant height reaches about 250 cm, and the ear length varies from 19 to 21 cm, with 16-18 rows of grains and 38-40 grains per row. The grain has a bovine type, and the mass of 1000 grains is 280-320 g.

The hybrid is characterized by high resistance to various pathogens and pests, including fusarium, stem borers, and sheath diseases. It also demonstrates high drought and cold tolerance, ensuring stable productivity under various climatic conditions. Strong stems provide the plant with resistance to lodging, which helps preserve the yield and facilitates harvesting.

To achieve maximum productivity, it is recommended to grow PORUMBEN 3 with a high agro-foundation and optimal planting density, which is 45-65 thousand plants per hectare depending on the region. Thanks to its characteristics and adaptability, the hybrid is widely used in different regions, providing stable and high yields of grain and silage for animal feed.
