RSC KASKAD is a grain sorghum variety intended for cultivation in Russia and use as feed grain in livestock farming. The variety is characterized by high yield and good grain quality, making it in demand for the agricultural sector and livestock rations. It belongs to medium-maturing varieties, which allows effective planning of sowing and harvest dates.
The plant is of medium height with a symmetrical head of medium length and density. At maturity, the glume awns acquire a light brown shade, while the grain has an elliptically-round shape with a semi-glassy endosperm structure and a light yellow color. The mass of 1000 grains is about 31.4 grams. The flowering time is average, and anthocyanin coloration of various parts of the plant is absent or very weakly expressed, which is a characteristic feature of the variety.
The average grain yield of RSC KASKAD reaches 26.6 centners per hectare, which is 19.1% higher than standard indicators. Maximum yields, for example, in the Orenburg region, reached 48.3 centners per hectare. Due to its agronomic characteristics and high energy value of the grain, this variety is widely used in agriculture to obtain high-quality feed raw materials.
