Sorghum Priazovsky

A resilient solution for arid regions

The «Pryazovske» sorghum variety, developed by the Institute of Grain Crops of the Steppe Zone of NAAS (B.V. Dziubetskyi, O.P. Olyzko, V.Yu. Cherchel), is engineered to perform reliably in regions facing frequent moisture deficits. Its primary strength lies in its versatility, allowing farmers to balance their production between grain harvesting and fodder supply.

Operational scenarios for your farm

• Grain production: The variety exhibits excellent stability and resistance to lodging and shattering. It is well-suited for intensive farming practices, providing consistent yields that meet the quality requirements of the feed industry and export markets.
• Fodder and Hay supply: Due to its high vegetative mass and rapid regrowth potential after cutting, «Pryazovske» serves as an essential component for livestock operations. It ensures a stable supply of silage and hay, which is critical during drought years when traditional fodder crop yields are insufficient.

Field experience confirms that the variety thrives in the specific soil and climatic conditions of the Ukrainian Steppe zone. Its heat resistance and low maintenance requirements allow farmers to optimize production costs per hectare. By integrating «Pryazovske» into the crop rotation, agricultural businesses gain a robust insurance policy against unpredictable weather, ensuring high productivity even under challenging conditions.
