Sorghum Helios

Reliable Grain Sorghum for Arid Conditions

Developed by the Selection and Genetics Institute (Odesa), the 'Helios' variety is specifically engineered for agricultural enterprises operating in Ukraine's steppe and forest-steppe zones. Its primary value lies in delivering a consistent grain yield with minimal irrigation reliance, making it a strategic asset for drought-prone regions.

Application Scenarios in Modern Farming

• The Maize Alternative: For farms where rainfall is insufficient to guarantee stable corn yields, 'Helios' serves as a robust insurance crop, maintaining profitability in challenging moisture conditions.
• Livestock Feed Optimization: The high starch and protein profile of the grain makes this variety an essential ingredient in cost-effective feed formulations for poultry and swine operations.
• Flexible Planting Windows: Due to its biological plasticity, 'Helios' is often used as a replanting solution for winter crops that failed during the dormant season, providing a reliable yield even when sowing is delayed.

Agronomists favor 'Helios' for its excellent lodging resistance and minimal grain shattering, which is a decisive factor during the harvest season. The variety exhibits superior performance when planting density is adjusted according to regional soil profiles. Its uniform maturity simplifies harvesting logistics and minimizes post-harvest losses, making it an efficient choice for large-scale production cycles. By integrating this variety into the crop rotation, producers secure a predictable and marketable grain output even under high-temperature stress.
