Sorghum A803

Agrotechnological features of A803 sorghum

The A803 hybrid from Advanta is a specialized solution designed for dual-purpose performance: harvesting high-quality grain and producing nutritious silage mass. The genetics of this hybrid are based on the synergy of expertise from Advanta and Limagrain, ensuring high plant plasticity across various soil and climatic conditions.

Adaptability and vegetative potential

The key advantage of A803 is the balanced ratio between leaf apparatus development and generative organ growth. For agronomists, this translates into predictable performance regardless of the primary harvest goal:

• For grain production: High panicle density and resistance to shattering allow for minimized harvest losses during combining.
• For silage production: The hybrid demonstrates excellent regenerative capacity after cutting, which is crucial for achieving a robust second harvest.

The Indian breeding base of Advanta has endowed this hybrid with increased resistance to stress factors, including short-term droughts and high temperatures during grain filling. The root system of the A803 is capable of efficiently extracting moisture from lower soil horizons, making it a reliable choice for regions with challenging agricultural conditions.

Practical value for operations

The technical power of the A803 lies in its physiological endurance. The plant is characterized by a strong, lodging-resistant stalk, which simplifies mechanized harvesting. The high sugar content in the stalk sap enhances the nutritional value of the silage, ensuring better fermentation in silos. By selecting this hybrid, farmers acquire a versatile tool that addresses the needs for both forage grain and high-energy roughage for livestock production.
