PERSYANOVSKOYE VS — a mid-early variety of sugar sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) developed by the Don Agricultural University. This variety is characterized by a well-leafy stem and a matte medium leaf vein. The panicle is one-maned, 18-20 cm long, with black ear scale leaves and awnless ears. The grain is oval, dark brown in color, with a 1000-grain mass ranging from 21.8 to 26.2 grams.
The variety is distinguished by high yield: in the North Caucasus region, the average yield of dry matter reaches 113.1 c/ha, which is 14.1 c/ha higher than the average standard, and seed yield is 21 c/ha. In the Lower Volga region, dry matter yield indicators are 98.9 c/ha, which is 19.9 c/ha higher than the average standard, and seed yield is 21.7 c/ha.
PERSYANOVSKOYE VS has good resistance to lodging and drought, making it a reliable choice for growing in various climatic conditions. It is moderately susceptible to stem corn borer. The variety is intended for use in agriculture, including for the production of sugar and grain crops, and is recommended for cultivation in regions with corresponding agroclimatic conditions.
