SEVEROKAVKAZSKY 5 — a late-maturing hybrid of sugar sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) intended for green mass production. The vegetation period is 126-130 days, allowing its use in the green conveyor for two cuts: the first in early August and the second in mid-September. The plant is medium-sized, 220-250 cm tall, with a powerful upright bush and thick stem. The panicle is large, oval, 25-27 cm long, brown in color, with leaves having a dark green central vein. The hybrid is characterized by high drought resistance and resistance to smut, bacterial blight, and lodging, ensuring stable productivity in complex climatic conditions. Sugar content in stem juice reaches 15-16%, making this hybrid valuable for green mass and silage production. When cut on the 60th day after emergence, the plant regrows quickly, providing two cuts per season. At the wax ripening stage, SEVEROKAVKAZSKY 5 can be used for silage laying in mixtures with straw and other crop residues. Green mass yield during trials reached 459 c/ha, and dry mass yield — 194.2 c/ha, significantly exceeding standard indicators. The hybrid is recommended for cultivation in the North Caucasus region and the Republic of Crimea, where it demonstrates high productivity and adaptability. Due to its characteristics, SEVEROKAVKAZSKY 5 is suitable for use in animal husbandry as a source of quality green mass, as well as for silage and other feed production. Its resistance to adverse factors and high sugar content make this hybrid a profitable choice for farmers seeking stable and high yields.
