Sorghum variety JETTA is the result of breeding work aimed at creating high-yielding hybrids with improved agronomic characteristics. Research conducted in the Rostov region revealed that hybrids involving JETTA demonstrate a significant heterosis effect in terms of plant height, leaf area, and green mass yield. Hybrids JETTA x CHSS-2 and JETTA x YAKTIK stand out particularly, characterized by increased crude protein content in green mass, exceeding standard indicators by 1.2–2.3%. This makes JETTA a promising material for obtaining feed raw material with high nutritional quality.
The breeding program within which JETTA variety was developed is focused on developing early-maturing and high-yielding sorghum varieties and hybrids for various purposes: feed, food, and technical. JETTA is among the CMS lines patented, confirming its unique genetic properties and breeding value. Besides feed use, sorghum of this variety can be used for starch, bioethanol, and grain production, expanding its application spectrum in the agro-industrial complex.
The quality of JETTA variety seed material has been confirmed by certification conducted by specialists of the regional Rosselkhozcenter, guaranteeing its varietal purity and compliance with standards. This ensures obtaining high-quality yield and stability of agronomic indicators during cultivation. Currently, JETTA variety is actively used in breeding programs and recommended for implementation in production, contributing to the development of domestic seed production and improving feed production efficiency.
