Sea buckthorn Clara

Klara Sea Buckthorn: Moldovan Breeding for Your Garden

One thing every grower should keep in mind: this is a variety with very thorny shoots. Pruning and harvesting require sturdy protective gear, but the yield density makes it worth the extra effort.

Fruit Yield and Specifications

Klara consistently performs well in terms of fruit size. Depending on your irrigation and soil management, the berry weight ranges from 0.5 to 1.2 grams. The berries feature a vibrant yellow-orange color and a sharp, acidic flavor profile. This makes them a top choice for industrial processing — think concentrated juices, oils, and jams. While they can be eaten fresh, they are primarily valued by those who appreciate the intense, classic tartness of sea buckthorn.

Management and Maintenance

• Cultivation: This variety thrives in well-lit areas; open sun is key to maximizing fruit development.
• Maintenance: Due to the thorny nature of the branches, canopy management is best performed during the dormant season using long-handled pruning shears.
• Landscape Use: Beyond production, Klara serves as an excellent hedge, offering both privacy and biological value.

If you are looking for a reliable source of raw material for processing that also acts as a visual asset to your property, Klara, developed by the team at Primagra, is a solid choice. It is a straightforward, resilient variety that rewards consistent attention to safety during harvest and basic agricultural care.
