Paulownia Lidea is a frost-hardy variety of Paulownia, propagated via in vitro method with a closed root system. The saplings reach a height of 25 cm and have broad leaves (20–50 cm), while the flowers, in a violet hue, can reach a length of 50 cm in inflorescence. The frost resistance of this variety is up to -28 °C, making it suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions. The saplings are adapted to Ukrainian conditions and are recommended to be planted in May using a planting scheme of 5x5.
Paulownia Lidea is noted for its strong root system, which lives for 70–80 years. This ensures resistance to erosion and weathering of fertile lands, and can also serve as a source of biofuel. The tree grows quickly – up to 3 meters per year under favorable conditions and reaches a height of 20 meters in 4–5 years. The leaves can be used as animal feed or processed into cellulose, while the wood is suitable for construction and other household needs.
Various methods are applied for growing Paulownia Lidea: from seed propagation to vegetative methods (cuttings, suckers). Saplings are grown in water-filled pots at a temperature of +20–25 °C, then transplanted into seedling trays with soil mixture and to open ground. It is important to ensure regular watering, avoid drying out and strong wind, as the plant is sensitive to drafts. Paulownia Lidea is also known for its ability to purify air and enrich soils, making it a valuable element in agroforestry and greening.
