Skilton lettuce is an early variety of leaf lettuce that matures within 40-45 days from germination to harvest. The plant is compact with a vertical rosette of leaves, which are dark green, narrow and thin, and branched in a coral type. The leaves are uniform, dense, and crisp, giving the lettuce a pleasant texture. The mass of one plant ranges from 140 to 180 grams, and the flavor is characterized by sweet notes with a pleasant aftertaste.
The variety is distinguished by high resistance to downy mildew (Bl races 16-36), damage by lettuce leaf aphid (Nr 0), and tolerance to lettuce mosaic virus (LMV 1). Harvest can be conducted once, either the whole plant or individual leaves. When cut from the middle of the leaf, it easily separates into individual leaves, making this variety convenient for preparing salad mixes.
Skilton lettuce is intended for cultivation in various conditions: open ground, film, and glass greenhouses, and is also suitable for city-farming technology. The recommended planting density is 8-10 plants per square meter. Yield in open ground reaches 1.2-2.0 kg per square meter, and in greenhouses — 3.3-3.8 kg per square meter, making this variety high-yielding and universal for different cultivation methods.
