Senator

Senator lettuce — an early-maturing variety intended for cultivation in open ground. It is characterized by its adaptability to growing conditions and resistance to high temperatures, making it suitable for various climatic zones. The vegetative period from sowing to technical maturity is 70–75 days, allowing for harvest within relatively short timeframes. The variety forms large, round, slightly flattened heads of dark green color with a dense structure, possessing high flavor qualities.

Senator lettuce can be grown either by direct sowing into the soil or through seedlings. Seeds should be sown at a depth of 0.5 to 3 cm, with optimal germination temperature of +3–4°C, and for growth — +15–20°C. To ensure continuous harvest, sowings are conducted at intervals of 12–15 days. Plants require thinning, especially during the 2–3 leaf stage, to prevent overcrowding and maintain optimal plant density of 15–20 plants per square meter. Thinned plants can be used as seedlings or for consumption.
