UZHURSKY

Uzhursky erucic is an oilseed crop from the crucifer family that attracts attention thanks to its short growing period and early ripening compared to sunflower and rapeseed. This allows its harvest to be completed before starting grain crop sowing, which makes erucic convenient for planning agro-cycles.

The key feature is high resistance to pests, which eliminates the need to apply pesticides and increases production ecological safety. Uzhursky oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids – oleic, linoleic, and linolenic, and contains components promising for processing into second-generation biofuel.

At the Siberian Experimental Station of VNIIMK, three spring erucic varieties have been developed: Isilkulec, Omych, and Kristall. They differ in increased productivity and improved oil fatty-acid composition. Studying their ecological stability and plasticity is an important stage in variety testing aimed at returning erucic to widespread use in the agricultural sector.
