TuHinskij Semko is a marjoram with a short growing cycle that reaches flowering in 120‑130 days after full germination and fully ripens seeds by 175‑185 days. The plant has upright stems 40 to 60 cm high that branch from the base; sometimes they are tinted purple-violet, while the pubescence remains silver-grey. Leaves are petiolate, oblong-lanceolate, 1.3–2.3 cm long and 0.6–0.9 cm wide, with an acute apex and serrated margin.
TuHinskij Semko is distinguished by high sensitivity to light frost, so it is best grown in a warm climate. The plant grows rapidly: first seedlings appear within 10 days after sowing at a temperature of 15‑25 °C. For optimal growth, it is recommended to sow seeds in April or May with a row spacing of 10 to 25 cm.
Leaves and young stems are used as a spicy seasoning: fresh leaves are added to salads, soups, meat and fish dishes before flowering, while dried leaves are used at the end of the flowering period. Due to its bright taste and aromatic properties, TuHinskij Semko becomes a valuable ingredient for both everyday cooking and the preparation of exquisite dishes.
