Oregano is an aromatic and useful herbaceous plant up to 60 cm high, valued both in culinary arts and in decorative greening. The leaves have small, oval shapes with a soft texture, while flowers appear in pink or white shades from June to September. Thanks to its rich aroma and mild spicy taste, oregano blends easily with many dishes: from soups and salads to spaghetti sauces, fish, and poultry. In cooking, it is often used together with rosemary, thyme, basil, and other herbs, creating aromatic mixtures and seasonings.

For cultivation, oregano prefers a warm climate and bright lighting; it sprouts quickly from seeds – seedlings appear in 15‑18 days. The plant grows well both in open ground and in containers, making it convenient for indoor growing. The optimal soil – fertile, not densely compacted, with good drainage capability; oregano does not tolerate frost, so it is cultivated as an annual crop in most regions.

Oregano has many useful properties: it is rich in vitamins and minerals, has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. In medicine, it is used for migraines, cramps, digestive disorders and other ailments; oregano tea helps reduce gas formation even in infants. Thanks to high yield, one plant can provide a rich harvest of leaves throughout the season, and the ease of care makes it a popular choice for both experienced gardeners and beginners.
