Rootstock variety of grape "Prezent" – the result of work by the Ya.I. Potapenko VNIIViV and authors Sian I.N., Brezhnev M.I. The leaf is large, three-lobed, slightly dissected with a bubbly shiny surface; lobes partially overlap the petiole depression. The flower is functionally female type, which allows for cluster formation. The vine is light brown and hairy, bushes of medium growth force, moderate ability to form suckers.
The variety is characterized by a high degree of vine ripening – 85–88% by the end of July, as well as good frost resistance of buds and vines (up to -28 °C). Resistance to fungal diseases is evaluated in the range of 1.5-2.0 points, and to leaf and root phylloxera – 1.0 point. Chlorosis resistance is significantly higher than the control variety RR 101-14.
Features of "Prezent" include excellent rooting of cuttings (50-60% better than on rootstocks of the family Berlandieri x Riparia) and increased winter hardiness. Compatibility with scion varieties in green and bench grafting is good, at the level of control variety RR 101-14. Thanks to these characteristics "Prezent" is suitable for growing both in European and Euro-American vineyards, and also demonstrates resistance to calcareous soils and high frosts.
