Alba

The Alba turnip is an early-maturing vegetable with white skin and firm flesh, reaching technical maturity approximately 55–57 days after germination. The root crops have a flat-rounded shape, a length of about 6 cm and a diameter of 7 cm, with an average weight of 200–230 g. The plant forms a semi-lifting rosette of leaves about 35 cm high and 30 cm in diameter, which ensures ease of harvest collection. Under optimal growing conditions, the variety yields 4.5–5 kg per square meter, making it attractive for both small farms and experienced gardeners who value stability and product quality.

The Alba variety is characterized by high resistance to drought and frost, allowing it to be grown in various climatic conditions. However, the turnip is susceptible to certain diseases, such as powdery mildew, bacterial burn, and anthracnose, thus requiring timely care and preventive measures. Thanks to its dense flesh and good transportability, the fruits maintain their commercial appearance during transportation and storage, expanding their usage possibilities.

Alba turnip is versatile in application: it is suitable for fresh consumption as well as for canning. The plant prefers sunny, wind-protected areas and can be grown both in open ground and in greenhouses. To obtain a high-quality harvest, it is recommended to avoid applying fresh manure, as this can negatively affect the development and taste qualities of the fruits. The variety is characterized by stability and high seed quality, which ensures successful cultivation and abundant harvest.
