Festival Chamomile

Festival Chamomile is a high-yielding strawberry variety of Ukrainian selection, classified as medium-early. The plants of this variety reach medium size, compact and low-spreading, with dense, large leaves covered with a matte waxy coating. The flower stems are strong and sturdy, usually growing at the level of the leaves, but may bend toward the ground under the weight of the fruit. The flowers are white, bisexual, and form in large numbers, promoting abundant fruiting and facilitating propagation of the variety.

The berries of Festival Chamomile have an oval-conical shape with a short and broad stem, colored in a deep, glossy red. The first fruits of the season are the largest, weighing 35 to 50 grams, then the berries gradually become smaller. The flesh is medium-firm, juicy, with a classic, rich strawberry aroma. The taste of the berries is very sweet with a slight acidity, and sugar content increases as the fruit ripens. The taste evaluation of this variety ranges from 7.8 to 8.3 out of 10.

The variety is characterized by high yield — up to 1 kg of berries per plant, and 17-19 tons per hectare. Fruit ripening begins in the second half of June and lasts about two weeks, with harvests conducted in 3-4 stages. Festival Chamomile is versatile in use: the berries are excellent for fresh consumption, as well as for making jams and compotes. The variety is resistant to diseases such as powdery mildew, various spots, and wilting, and also exhibits high winter hardiness and drought tolerance. The berries withstand transportation well and maintain their market appearance without bruising during transit.
