Description
Garden strawberry variety "LUCH VIR" is the result of breeding work by the Crimean Experimental-Breeding Station of VNIIR, obtained by crossing the "Peach" variety and the VIR 228613 seedling. This variety is characterized by a late ripening period and high yield. Bushes are powerful, semi-spreading, which ensures good plant development and ease of care.
Berries are of medium size, weighing 7–8 grams, with a dark red skin with a bright red tint and yellow speckles. The flesh is pink, of medium density, and has a pleasant aroma. The fruit taste is sweet and sour, dessert-like, which makes them attractive to consumers. Fruits withstand transportation and storage well, which expands their usage and realization possibilities.
The variety has medium resistance to diseases and pests, among which are late blight, fusarium, aphids, whiteflies, and others. Plants are winter-hardy and withstand drought well. For successful cultivation, regular watering 1-2 times a week, fertilizer application several times during the season, soil loosening, and runner pruning are recommended. The variety is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in greenhouses, making it universal for various climatic conditions.
