The Pelageia strawberry variety is a mid-early variety with universal purposes, suitable for cultivation both in open ground and in film greenhouses. The plant is of medium height, with a spherical or semi-spreading bush, well foliated. Leaves are of medium size, green, with sharp serrated edges, shiny and slightly wrinkled. Inflorescences are located at the level of leaves and have sparse pubescence. Fruit bearing begins in the second decade of May; the duration of the period from germination to fruiting is about 108-115 days. Berries of the Pelageia variety are large, of a regular conical shape, weighing from 14 to 27 grams, bright red in color without a neck. The flesh is light red or light pink, dense, juicy, sweet, and aromatic, making the fruits attractive for fresh consumption, as well as for making salads, juices, and canning. The yield of the variety is high — over 800 grams per bush or about 374 centners per hectare, indicating its productivity. The variety is distinguished by high winter hardiness and drought resistance, as well as resistance to most common diseases, including fusarium and verticillium. The plant is determinate, about 80 cm tall, with moderate tillering. For planting, it is recommended to use a 40x50 cm scheme, and seedlings to be sown at the end of March — beginning of April with pricking out at the stage of the first true leaf and transplanting into greenhouses in May. All these characteristics make Pelageia a reliable and universal strawberry variety for various climatic conditions and cultivation methods.
