KOKINSKAYA EARLY

Kokinskaya Early is a high-yielding early-ripening strawberry variety of domestic selection, bred in 1974 at the Kokinskaya Base Point by crossing the varieties 'Ketskill' and 'Rannyaya Makheraucha'. The variety was created by agricultural sciences candidate A.A. Vysotsky. The variety is included in the state register and recommended for cultivation in the Northwestern and Central regions of Russia. Bushes are medium-sized, semi-spreading, form numerous rosettes, peduncles are low, located below the level of leaves. Flowers are bisexual, gathered in few-flowered inflorescences, which allows the variety to do without cross-pollination.

Fruits of Kokinskaya Early have a regular round or blunt conical shape, dark red glossy color and weight from 11 to 20 grams. Flesh is dense, juicy, with pronounced aroma and sour-sweet dessert taste. Due to the dense structure, fruits well maintain their shape during freezing and thawing, which makes the variety universal in use. Fruits are suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for making jam, jelly, compote and other homemade preserves. Fruits are transportable, which allows using the variety both for personal and commercial purposes.

Maturation periods for Kokinskaya Early are early, the crop ripens evenly in the first half of June. Yield is 70-90 kg per 100 sq m, which corresponds to approximately 1 kg per bush. The variety has average resistance to diseases, is weakly affected by powdery mildew and has average susceptibility to verticillium wilt and gray mold. For prevention, it is recommended to conduct spring treatments with biopreparations. Kokinskaya Early is well adapted to natural-climatic conditions and is characterized by winter hardiness, which makes it popular among gardeners.
