Polonez Raspberry — a new late-ripening, remontant variety developed by Polish breeders. The bushes of this variety are compact and fast-growing, reaching a height of 1.5 to 2 meters. The canes are straight, medium-thick, and practically thornless, which facilitates care and harvesting. Polonez prefers sunny areas and does not tolerate drafts. To maintain frost resistance during snow-free winters, it is recommended to mulch the planting with wood chips.
The berries of Polonez raspberry are large, elongated-conical in shape, weighing from 5 to 8 grams, bright red with a slight gloss. The fruits have a dense flesh, juicy and aromatic, with a distinct dessert flavor and sugar content of approximately 10.8 °Bx on the Brix scale. Berries ripen in late August, and the variety fruits on last year’s canes; for the second harvest, it fruits on current-year’s young canes. Yield per bush ranges from 2 to 4.5 kilograms depending on growing conditions.
The variety exhibits high resistance to major diseases and low susceptibility to pests. It is highly transportable and suitable for mechanical harvesting, making it attractive for commercial cultivation. In spring, sanitary pruning is recommended to maintain plant health and increase yield. Polonez raspberry combines high commercial and flavor qualities, making it an excellent choice for both home gardeners and commercial plantations.
