Description
Rumba Strawberry — an early-maturing variety developed by the Dutch breeding program of the company Fresh Forward. This variety matures approximately five days later than the Honey variety, and is suitable for cultivation in various climatic conditions, including open ground in Northern Europe and agroclimatic zones of Ukraine. Rumba demonstrates stable and uniform berry ripening without sharp drops, ensuring high productivity and ease of harvest due to compact and open bushes with long peduncles positioned at the level or slightly below dark green leaves. Berries of the Rumba variety are large, round-conical in shape, bright red with a strong sheen, weighing about 20 grams. The flesh is sweet, juicy, and has a rich flavor that remains intact with proper care. Despite its cold tolerance, low temperatures may impair the taste quality of berries, making them more acidic, so it is recommended to cover plants with fleece or polyethylene film to protect against nighttime frosts. Rumba exhibits good resistance to major strawberry diseases, including gray and brown rot, although preventive measures to protect plants remain crucial for maintaining plant health and yield. The Rumba variety is valued for its high fruit quality and excellent storage performance after harvest, making it popular in the market. Plants are low-maintenance, suitable for cultivation in greenhouses, gardens, and even on balconies, with the first significant harvest obtainable already the following year after planting. Due to its characteristics and adaptability, Rumba strawberry is becoming increasingly popular among gardeners and commercial producers, offering delicious and attractive berries with good yield.
