ASTONCRUSEYDER is a type of ryegrass, representing a cereal grass of the turf type with a loose culm structure. The plant is distinguished by thin and soft stems, an upright bush, and a spike-like inflorescence. Growth height varies: lawn varieties reach 30–50 cm, while fodder varieties can reach 100–150 cm. Ryegrass well retains a rich green color until the first frosts, and its root system develops quickly and ensures resistance to trampling.
The optimal temperature for ryegrass growth is from 18 to 25 °C; germination begins at temperatures above +2 °C. The plant withstands moderate frosts, however, snowless winters may pose a threat. Sowing is usually carried out in spring or autumn, and mowing must be done regularly – at the beginning of flowering and after mowing, to maintain color saturation and increase yield.
ASTONCRUSEYDER is widely used as a fodder grass and an element of lawn mixtures. It is characterized by high fodder nutrition, resistance to loads, and the ability to recover quickly after mowing – up to 2–3 times per season with natural irrigation, and up to 5–6 times with artificial watering. Moreover, ryegrass has sideration properties: it enriches the soil with organic substances, improving its structure and fertility. Thanks to these characteristics, the plant is a valuable component of pasture crops and greening projects.
