Radish Molniya

Focus on Ultra-Early Maturity

The «Molniya» radish by «Semko-Junior» is designed for growers who prioritize rapid crop rotation during the early spring season. With a growth cycle of just 20–25 days, this variety enables a fast harvest immediately after the soil warms up. In commercial farming, it is valued for its consistency, as it forms uniform bulbs even under the fluctuating temperatures typical of spring.

Practical Implementation Strategies

• Succession Planting: The short vegetation period allows for sowing every 10–14 days, ensuring a continuous supply of fresh produce to the market throughout the spring.
• Greenhouse Production: This variety is well-adapted for protected ground, where early harvesting is crucial to clear space for primary crops like tomatoes or cucumbers.
• Polytunnels: High seed vigor allows for effective germination even when soil temperatures have not yet reached their peak.

Marketable Quality and Characteristics

«Molniya» is characterized by a vibrant, bright red skin and a classic round shape, which is highly preferred for retail packaging and bunching. The internal structure is firm and juicy with high resistance to pithiness, maintaining marketability even if harvest dates are slightly delayed due to weather conditions. This is a critical factor for farmers managing tight logistics.

The selection by Yury Borisovich Alekseev, realized through the «Semko-Junior» brand, ensures high uniformity. For the agronomist, this translates to reduced labor costs during sorting and grading, as the crop matures evenly across the field. It is a reliable choice for commercial operations aiming for high-quality, high-turnover produce.
