PRIKORNEVAYA is an early-maturing variety of large-fruited pumpkin intended for cultivation in open ground and greenhouses. The plant has a bushy form with a small number of vines, which facilitates care and harvest collection. A characteristic feature of the variety is the location of fruits near the root collar, which ensures ease of harvesting. Leaves are large, heart-shaped, entire-margined and green in color. Fruits have a flattened shape, light-gray coloration with slight segmentation, mass varies from 1.5 to 10 kg, most often 3-7 kg. Rind is of medium thickness, flesh is dense, juicy, yellow-orange in color and 4-6 cm thick.
The variety is characterized by high yield – commercial yield reaches 45-60 tons per hectare, and seed yield is 0.6-0.7 tons per hectare. Seeds have high oil content (42-51%) and are used for oil production and in the confectionery industry. The chemical composition of the fruits includes dry matter 7-10%, sugars 5-6% and carotene 6-9 mg%, which makes the pumpkin useful and nutritious. The period from germination to harvesting is about 90-110 days, which allows for an early harvest.
The variety is moderately resistant to diseases, but requires regular watering and care to maintain high productivity. It is well suited for mechanized cultivation and harvesting, has good transportability and high storability, which makes it convenient for commercial cultivation. PRIKORNEVAYA is recommended for cultivation in various regions, including the North Caucasus and the Far East.
