Description Altair
Altair — a medium-maturing, universal-purpose pumpkin variety developed by the Italian company Anseme. The maturation period is approximately 115 days from germination to the start of harvest. The pumpkin forms large, round-oval shaped fruits weighing from 4.2 to 6 kg. Fruit color varies from light gray to dark gray, sometimes with pink stripes and spots. The flesh is thick, juicy, sweet, with an orange hue and pleasant nutmeg aroma. The fruits contain 10.0–10.4% dry matter, up to 5% carotene and up to 6% pectin on dry weight, making them nutritious and beneficial. The variety is characterized by high yield — up to 24 tons per hectare at a planting density of 1.96 m² per hectare. It also shows good seed yield — around 499 kg per hectare, with 1000 seeds weighing 372 g. Altair has high transportability and storability, facilitating storage and transportation of the harvest. The variety is resistant to diseases, particularly powdery mildew, enhancing its reliability in cultivation. Due to its characteristics, Altair is suitable for various uses, including culinary and processing applications. Its juicy, aromatic flesh makes this variety attractive to consumers, while its high yield and disease resistance make it appealing to farmers.
