Potato Jaerla

Dutch precision in every tuber: The Jaerla story

Jaerla, developed by the industry giant HZPC, represents the pinnacle of Dutch breeding for early-maturing table potatoes. For years, this variety has been a staple for professional growers across Europe and beyond, thanks to its consistent performance and reliability. Characterized by its distinct oval shape and smooth yellow skin with a light-yellow flesh, Jaerla is a commercial favorite that balances high yield potential with excellent culinary properties, fitting perfectly into the demands of both retail shelves and food processing.

Field performance and disease resistance

What sets Jaerla apart in the competitive potato market is its robust genetic resistance profile. HZPC has engineered this variety to stand strong against some of the most challenging agronomic threats, reducing the necessity for intensive chemical intervention. Key resistances include:

• Golden Potato Cyst Nematode (Ro1);
• Potato Wart disease;
• Potato Leafroll Virus (PLRV);
• Potato Virus Y;
• Common Scab.

This wide range of resistance provides farmers with a safety net, ensuring a marketable crop even in challenging growing seasons. The medium eye depth ensures that the tubers are easy to peel and process, adding value throughout the supply chain.
