Description Fidelia
The Fidelia potato variety is an early-maturing table variety developed by the German breeder Wolfgang Walter in 2014. The plant is of medium or tall stature with a semi-erect form and light-green leaves of medium to large size. The tubers are elongated-oval in shape with small eyes, featuring yellow skin and flesh. The weight of one marketable tuber ranges from 98 to 116 grams, with starch content varying between 12.5–16.5%, ensuring good taste and versatility in culinary applications, allowing the potato to be used for preparing various dishes. The variety is characterized by high yield, ranging from 191 to 323 centners per hectare, with maximum yields reaching 434 centners per hectare. The first harvest can be obtained as early as day 45 after emergence, enabling an early harvest of 80–187 centners per hectare. The second harvest is conducted on day 55, with yields reaching 98–270 centners per hectare. The tuber marketability is in the range of 80–97%, and storability reaches 97%, ensuring long-term storage without loss of quality. Fidelia exhibits resistance to several diseases and pests, including the potato cyst nematode and potato virus Y. Additionally, the variety shows moderate resistance to late blight of foliage and tubers, leaf curl, and mosaic virus. These characteristics make Fidelia a reliable choice for cultivation in the Central region of Russia and similar climatic conditions, ensuring a stable and high-quality harvest.
