Potato variety Scarbnitsa belongs to the early table-type group with a vegetation period of 90-95 days. This variety was developed by the Potato Research Institute in Nemeshayevo and is well suited for cultivation on all types of soils throughout Ukraine. During maturation, it forms 10-13 round-oval tubers with a creamy skin and small, shallow eyes. The flesh is creamy-colored, possesses high flavor qualities, and belongs to culinary group AV, making it ideal for baking and grilling.
The commercial yield of the Scarbnitsa variety is approximately 16 tons per hectare by the 45th day of vegetation and reaches 45 tons by the end of the maturation period. The average tuber weight is about 98-100 grams, and starch content varies from 15 to 16%. The potato has a high market appearance and elevated carotenoid content, improving its nutritional value. The variety exhibits high storage capacity, allowing it to maintain quality for an extended period.
Scarbnitsa is characterized by good resistance to major potato diseases, including late blight, leaf and tuber phytophthora, rust, and wet bacterial rot. Thanks to these properties and its universal adaptability, the variety is suitable for various climatic zones in Ukraine, including southern regions where a second harvest per season is possible. This makes Scarbnitsa a profitable and reliable choice for farmers and potato enthusiasts.
