Melody

Potato variety Melody is a medium-late table-type variety of Dutch selection, intended for universal use in cooking. The vegetation period is 115-120 days, allowing for a stable yield under various climatic conditions. Tubers have oval-round shape, light-yellow skin with smooth texture and superficial eye placement, and flesh is also light-yellow, which does not darken during boiling. Starch content varies from 11 to 17%, providing moderate flesh density and excellent boiling properties, allowing the potato to be used for a variety of dishes, including boiling and frying, where the flesh becomes crumbly or soft with a crispy crust.

Melody variety is characterized by high yield — average yield ranges from 176 to 335 centners per hectare, with maximum yield reaching 636 centners. Each plant produces 7 to 15 tubers of medium size, ranging from 96 to 179 grams. Plants have a strong root system and are resistant to stressful growing conditions. Potatoes have high storability — up to 95% of tubers retain their flavor and appearance for 7-8 months. Additionally, the variety is resistant to mechanical damage, facilitating transportation and storage.

Special attention has been paid to disease resistance: Melody exhibits high resistance to potato blight, golden potato cyst nematode, and crinkly and striped mosaic. Moderately resistant to late blight of foliage and tubers. For successful cultivation, regular soil loosening, fertilization, and watering are recommended, promoting optimal plant development and higher yields. Due to its characteristics and reliability, Melody variety is widely used in Russia, Ukraine, and Moldova, and is suitable for industrial cultivation.
