Kuroda

Kuroda potato is a mid-late, high-yielding table-type variety with a vegetative period of 75-85 days. The plants are tall, semi-erect, intermediate type with moderate anthocyanin coloration on the stem and dark green, open leaves with anthocyanin veins. The flowers are large, dark red-purple, and bloom profusely. Tubers have an oval-round shape with rough red skin and medium-depth eyes, with an average fruit mass of 75-105 grams. The flesh is light yellow, with a starch content of 21-22%, making it medium-starch and suitable for making French fries. The potato withstands thermal processing well, does not darken, and has high taste qualities, belonging to taste group ВС.

The variety is characterized by high drought resistance and resistance to viral diseases, including viruses У, Х, and leaf curl virus, as well as to late blight and golden potato cyst nematode. However, the variety has low resistance to phytophthora. The yield potential is 29.7-33.1 tons per hectare. The tubers have good market appearance, high storage capacity, and good transportability, making the variety popular for cultivation in the Polissia and forest-steppe regions.

The Kuroda variety was registered in 2008 and is produced by Agrico. It is intended for cultivation in open ground and is suitable for the second rotation. Due to its high dry matter content and excellent taste qualities, this potato is widely used both for home and industrial preparation, especially for producing French fries.
