Heraclea

The Heraclea potato variety is characterized by high yield and drought resistance, making it a reliable choice for cultivation under various climatic conditions. This mid-early variety has a vegetation period of 90 to 100 days, and marketable harvest can be collected as early as 70-80 days after planting. For successful cultivation, Heraclea requires low nitrogen application, which promotes optimal tuber development and reduces the risk of over-fertilization.

Tubers of the Heraclea variety have medium-sized, round-oval shape with yellow skin and light-yellow flesh. The variety exhibits good resistance to mechanical damage, such as bruising, as well as to diseases including late blight, nematodes, and tuber rot. However, it is less resistant to leaf blight and PVYn virus, requiring careful care and preventive measures during the vegetation period.

Heraclea requires rapid germination and a medium dormancy period, which should be considered when preparing seed material. Thanks to its long storage life, this variety retains its quality for an extended period after harvest, making it convenient for storage and further culinary use.
