Sunflower Shumur

Stability in Ukrainian Selection

Shumer is a product of the V. Ya. Yuriev Plant Production Institute, specifically engineered for farmers who prioritize predictability and technological efficiency. Unlike many imported hybrids that require strict, expensive intensive feeding schemes, this variety demonstrates remarkable adaptability to Ukraine's diverse soil and climatic conditions.

Agronomic Profile

• Vegetation Period: 110–120 days. This balanced maturity allows for consistent harvesting without the risk of late-season weather interference.
• Morphology: A plant height of 170–180 cm and a semi-convex head shape ensure the crop is well-suited for efficient mechanical harvesting.
• Oil Content: A stable 45–50% oil content makes this a solid choice for commercial production and processing profitability.

Key Strengths and Considerations

The main advantage of Shumer is its robust genetic resistance to Sclerotinia (white rot) and powdery mildew. This built-in protection helps farmers reduce the number of fungicide applications, effectively lowering the cost per hectare. However, users should be mindful of planting density: over-seeding can negatively affect head fill and overall yield potential.

Shumer is the optimal solution for farms looking for the perfect balance between the cost of inputs and a reliable harvest, without the dependency on high-cost intensive cultivation technologies required by specialized hybrids.
