Plum Tsyganochka

Reliable «Tsyganochka»: Real-World Growing Experience

For those gardening in harsh climates, choosing the right variety is a strategic decision. The «Tsyganochka» variety from FANSA is a robust option that forgives minor management errors and withstands weather extremes. Its winter hardiness, rated down to -35°C, is not just a spec sheet figure—the trees handle severe winters without sustaining critical structural damage, sparing the gardener from annual rehabilitation efforts.

Health, Immunity, and Production

One of the greatest challenges in orchard management is fungal disease. «Tsyganochka» handles this with remarkable resilience. Due to its high resistance to clasterosporium and common scab, the need for intensive chemical applications is significantly reduced. This not only lowers operational costs but also contributes to a cleaner, more environmentally friendly crop.

• Yield: The tree consistently produces 35–50 kg of fruit. The harvest window is compact (August 1–15), allowing for efficient management of post-harvest processing.
• Pest Protection: High resistance to the codling moth minimizes losses, keeping the percentage of damaged fruit low and making the sorting process much faster.

Fruit Characteristics

The fruits of «Tsyganochka» are small (10–20 g) but high in quality for their class. With their dark violet to black skin and rounded shape, these plum-sloe hybrids are ideal for jams, compotes, and other culinary uses. Because they do not require high-maintenance care and are consistently productive, this variety is a perfect choice for growers who value predictability and durability in their orchard operations.
