Developed by the I.V. Michurin Federal Scientific Center, 'Nochka' stands out as a robust hybrid between a plum and a sloe. This cultivar is the result of extensive breeding efforts aimed at adapting stone fruits to the challenging, cold climates of Russia. Its primary market position is that of a «hardy performer»: it excels where traditional, delicate plum varieties fail, largely due to its phenomenal winter hardiness, surviving temperatures as low as -35°C.

Agricultural Performance and Yield

'Nochka' is a mid-season variety, requiring 86–100 days from blossom to harvest. The fruit typically ripens in the first half of August. While the fruits are small (10–20 g), the tree compensates with impressive productivity, yielding between 35 and 50 kg per tree in a stable growing season.

• Disease Resistance: The cultivar exhibits high resistance to rust, mycosphaerella leaf spot, and brown spot. It is also highly resilient against black spot and mosaic virus, significantly reducing the need for aggressive chemical treatments.
• Fruit Profile: The fruits are spherical with a well-balanced sweet-and-sour profile, containing 8–11% sugar. They are highly prized for culinary processing, particularly for jams, preserves, and traditional fruit-based beverages.
• Phenology: Blooming mid-May (11–17th), the tree effectively avoids the late spring frosts that often devastate less resilient fruit varieties.
