In 2025, the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine was updated with a significant asset for domestic horticulture — the clonal rootstock "Gizela 6.1". The variety is owned by STOV "ENOHRAI", a company focused on technological advancement and efficiency in industrial cherry cultivation. The inclusion of this rootstock in the register marks a shift toward more compact and manageable fruit tree forms.

Agrobiological Profile

Gizela 6.1 (Prunus avium L.) is a low-vigor tree with a drooping habit and weak branching, which significantly simplifies crown maintenance and harvesting. Key characteristics of the rootstock include:

• Growth Vigor: Weak, allowing for the establishment of intensive orchards with high planting density.
• Adaptability: The variety is successfully zoned for all key agro-climatic regions of Ukraine — the Steppe, Forest-Steppe, and Polissya.
• Morphology: Characterized by strong anthocyanin coloration of young shoots and a compact leaf blade with an intense green color.

Although the primary purpose of Gizela 6.1 is its use as a rootstock, the botanical description of the fruit confirms the genetic purity of the culture. The fruits are round with dark red skin and cream-colored flesh with low acidity, which is typical for high-quality rootstock material.
