Root parsley of the Sugar Hose variety is an early-maturing biennial plant that produces aromatic greens in the first year of cultivation and a large spicy root in the second. The plant forms a spreading rosette of 30-40 leaves with light green petioles about 25-30 cm long. The root has a conical shape with a pointed tip, reaching a length of up to 30 cm and a diameter of 4-6 cm, with grayish-white bark and white pulp inside.
The variety is characterized by high yield: up to 5.5 kg of greens with roots can be obtained from one square meter, and from 1.0 to 2.5 kg of roots only. Sowing seeds is recommended in open ground at the end of April – beginning of May at a depth of about 1 cm. The plant adapts well to various growing conditions, has high frost resistance and does not require complex care, but requires moderate watering and regular harvesting of leaves and roots as needed.
Sugar Hose is valued for its sweet taste and large leaves, making it a popular choice for growing in gardens and orchards. It can be grown both in open ground and in greenhouses, providing flexibility in use and allowing for fresh greens and roots for culinary purposes to be obtained for an extended period.
