OGON'EK

Pepper variety 'Ogon'ek' is a decorative indoor perennial with medium-early ripening. The vegetation period lasts from 120 to 140 days, allowing harvest during summer and autumn seasons. Plants have a pyramidal shape, medium height (40–60 cm), good leaf coverage, and small elongated green leaves. The plant is highly decorative, making it popular not only as a vegetable crop but also as an interior decoration or greenhouse windowsill ornament. 'Ogon'ek' pepper fruits are elongated or conical, with a deep ruby or bright red color. Fruit wall thickness is about 1.5 mm, and weight ranges from 15–20 g to 180–250 g depending on growing conditions and variety. The flavor is spicy and pungent with a distinct pepper aroma. This pepper is versatile, suitable for making spicy dishes, seasonings, and canning. Yield in home conditions reaches up to 3.8 kg per square meter, and in open ground — up to 3 kg. The 'Ogon'ek' variety is adaptable to various growing conditions and can be successfully cultivated in open ground, greenhouses, and indoors. It is resistant to bacterial diseases and verticillium wilt, ensuring good fruit storage and transport. Moderate watering and adherence to frost resistance zones 7–8 are required for optimal growth. Due to these qualities, 'Ogon'ek' enjoys stable market demand and is one of the most popular hot pepper varieties.
