Description CHUSOVAYA
Chusovaya Pear – an autumn variety bred by domestic breeders at the Sverdlovsk Breeding Station through crossing Beta, Victoria, and William's Red varieties. The tree is medium- to tall-growing, reaching heights of 3.5-4 meters, with a spreading pyramidal or dome-shaped crown and a thick trunk. The variety is characterized by high frost resistance and resistance to pear psyllid, allowing successful cultivation in the Ural region's climatic conditions. The pear is self-fertile and also serves as an excellent pollinator for other varieties.

Fruits of the Chusovaya variety have a rhomboidal shape and medium size, weighing about 70-90 grams. The main fruit color is yellow-green with possible blurred blush on the sunny side. The flesh is cream-colored, juicy, crunchy, without astringency or gritty texture, with a rich sweet taste and no pronounced acidity. Dry matter content reaches 18%, sugars up to 12%. Commercial maturity occurs in the first half to mid-September, and the storage period lasts from 2-3 weeks to one month.

Chusovaya pears are suitable for fresh consumption as well as technical processing in home and industrial conditions. Due to the flesh structure, fruits are easily processed in juicers and meat grinders. The juice differs with a cloyingly sweet taste without acidity, therefore it is recommended to blend it with apple or other acidic juices. The variety has medium or above-average yield and is resistant to diseases such as rust, scab, powdery mildew, and spot, as well as to pests, including aphids, pear psyllid, gall midge, flower weevil, and codling moth.
